The hotel regularly attracts distinguished guests. Charlie Chaplin was the castle's first celebrity guest and since then the hotel has played host to a long list of well known people, including Robert Redford, Sean Connery, Elton John, Barbara Cartland, Anthony Hopkins and Mel Gibson.

Jefferson Davis(1808-1889), President of the Confederate States of America, stayed at Inverlochy Castle in 1869. In a letter from Inverlochy castle to his wife Varina dated 17 August 1869, Davis wrote ''The scenery about here is the grandest of all the sublime spectacles I have met in Scotland. You would find a wide field for your imagination in the mists & changing lights & shades which characterize the Scottish mountains.''
