Wildlife

Just a few miles north is the remarkably wildlife-abundant Achnacarry Estate. Red deer, highland cattle, pine martens, wild boar, foxes, otters, rare species of butterflies and many other astonishing animals can be found here.  

Local wildlife thrives above the ground, too, with birds of prey like golden eagles, white-tailed sea eagles, ospreys and buzzards. In the woodland you might find pheasants, black game, grouse or ptarmigan, while waterfowl are abundant on the lochs.  

Organised tours 

In groups of up to six, explore the sides of Loch Lochy and Loch Arkaig in a 4x4 or, for a camera-stalking tour, climb the hill in an Argo. There will be bountiful opportunities to capture the shot – just make sure to bring a hearty lunch to keep your energy up!
